Augusta, GA – September 1, 2005 – Allen Corporation of America, Inc. announced that their custom software application was implemented by Augusta’s Emergency Operations Center to respond to disaster relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina. |

“Getting the right help to the right place at the right time is critical to effective disaster assistance,” said Jeanette Rasche, Director of the Augusta office. “Last spring, Allen Corporation began working with the local emergency preparedness officials to develop a custom software application designed to orchestrate the deployment of trained volunteers to disaster events.” |

The application was scheduled to be used in a comprehensive training event in October. However, with the extent of the gulf coast disaster, it became evident that the software needed to be launched immediately. With the movement of displaced hurricane victims into Georgia, and the need for trained personnel to travel to New Orleans and other effected areas, the need for citizen volunteer participation from Augusta was essential. |

“We are looking at probably the greatest disaster in the country; the need for volunteers is astronomical,” said Preston Harpe, the Volunteer Resources Coordinator for the Georgia’s East Central Health District. |

“When the call for volunteers reached the local news media in Augusta, our custom application was already up and running in the Augusta Emergency Operations Center,” observed John Haymann, Vice President, Training and Technology Division. “The software was designed to streamline the process of coordinating volunteers, and preformed exactly as expected.” |
